History

The Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) was founded in 1995 as a partner of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) organization. MRS is the only organization in Bulgaria that deals with mountain rescue and as such is recognized as a member of the International Organization for Mountain Rescue.

The Bansko team consists of 40 mountain rescuers, trainers, doctors, handlers, who are ready to respond to any call for help in the name of a cause – saving lives.

Free Mobile App

If you have an Android or IPhone device the Bansko Mountain Rescue have developed a free app for offline emergency communication, essential if you are heading off piste (or on for that matter) this coming winter and easy to search in the app store just type PSS and you will see the logo below. (the app can only be downloaded when in Bulgaria, as it is operational by location)

Once downloaded click on the BG map and it will translate into English.

"PSS" application (or "ПСС" as spelled in Bulgarian) has been developed to facilitate communication need help tourists with the Mountain Rescue Service in Bulgaria:

1, When you turn on the GPS receiver displays GPS coordinates of your current location.

2, Provides a button to send an SMS message with GPS coordinates to the Control Center MRS.

3, Provides button to call the mobile number of the MRS Control Center if necessary help in the mountains.
